We are doing a unit on Robert Indiana, whose famous LOVE symbol is widely recognized. The challenge was to find a four-letter word that was meaningful to the students, and paint it Robert Indiana style. I  love how they turned out.

Kyoto, Japan

Finally, after five months, I've begun to paint scenes from the trip to Japan. This is a hand washing place at a Buddhist shrine in Kyoto. I saw something like this in every shrine we visited. The basin is marble; the pipes bamboo; the cups were usually copper, but these were some other silver colored metal with copper handles.

Painted on Fabriano 140 lb. paper. Finished size is 11 x 15.5 inches. Matted and framed to 16 X 20. I am going to try again on yupo, a bit larger.
